Free WordPress Themes For Blog Website

Free WordPress Themes For Blog Website: Starting a blog website but don’t like to pay for a theme, same here. When I was trying to start my WordPress website literally, I was asking myself that why people are paying for a theme when we have free themes?

But after actually getting into this, I realize the value of premium themes. They have more features, more flexibility, less coding or no coding errors, SEO friendly, and so on and so on. If you want to check out my best premium themes, then click here.

Even they have advantages like this but who pay 50 to 100 dollars for a theme, when you’re not fully set up or have less money. So, at that time I search a lot for free WordPress themes and found a lot of nice themes and have similar features like premium.

So, in this post, I’ll give you my top 5 free WordPress themes for blog website, even you can use them for other purposes as well but I used them for my blog.

Top 5 Free WordPress Themes For Blog Website

5. Newsera

Top 5 Free WordPress themes for blog website 1

Basically, this theme is for newspapers but you can use this for the blog. I don’t like its color scheme, so, I changed that by putting my custom CSS. We’ll talk about this in our next post that how you can add custom CSS to your WordPress website.

The theme is completely full of 3d transitions, like nice hover effects and so on. Just check out its preview, you’ll get everything.

4. MH News Magazine

Top 5 Free WordPress themes for blog website 2

This is another newspaper theme but doesn’t have to worry, you can use this on your blog.

The theme has boxed layout which is perfect, you can change that to full by putting custom CSS. I like its blue and black color combination that I never want to change.

Moreover, the theme has extra widgets areas for advertisements. Integrated featured post types section for the header. Also, this theme has a premium version so, you upgrade this if you want.

3. ColorMag

Top 5 Free WordPress themes for blog website 3

I used this theme for more than 5 months (I think), I love its functionalities and features. The theme also has a premium version which has extended functionality like drag and drop, which most of the people find and like these days.

The best thing is, we can put advertisements wherever we want. The theme allows us to put ads in header, footer, sidebar and so on.

2. ColorNews

Top 5 Free WordPress themes for blog website 4

Another “News” name theme, hehe… The theme has almost similar to the previous one. But there’s only one difference I think. This theme has nice post slider feature which we can use to design our homepage.

Although, the previous theme doesn’t look bad. But that theme is mostly used by tech websites and educational websites.

1. zeeDynamic The Best Free WordPress Themes For Blog Website

Top 5 Free WordPress themes for blog website 5

The best ever theme I found for a blog website. Still, if I have no choice in premium themes, I’ll use this one.

The theme comes with a small visual editor which allow us to design our homepage. Apart from that, its color scheme is pretty much good.

It has post slider feature, nice widget areas, boxed layout.

We can put any post on homepage regardless of its date by using its visual editor.

It also has a premium version, which has extended functionalities than the free ones.

So, that’s it for this post. I hope you guys like this post, and if yes? And want more like this than subscribe to the newsletter, like BlackMario on Facebook, follow us on Instagram and Twitter.

Fixed: WordPress Not Sending Emails

WordPress not sending emails, a lot of people have this issue but they end up with nothing because the actual problem is in finding the real issue. I mean what is the actual reason that why WordPress not sending emails even not in the spam folder.

I faced the same issue when I moved my website from traditional hosting to cloud, I’m using Digital Ocean (because they are literally cost-effective and best). If you want to move your website in Digital Ocean then click here and get $10 free credit.

Let’s talk about the reason, why is WordPress not sending emails?

Well, there’s not the only one thing that effects WordPress and stops it to send emails.

I mentioned earlier I faced this issue when I moved to the cloud on Digital Ocean. Because I use the simple one-click installation feature where I set up my WordPress in just a few minutes. But it is also has a bad thing that is about email sending issue.

Because we don’t have Cpanel or any other panel on the backend that set up our email system automatically. But it does not only happen when you moved to cloud, there are many reasons available as well that create this issue like email configuration issue at the backend and so on and so on.

So, we have to do this manually. Don’t worry, we don’t need to code anything, we just need to click few things and done!

Solution

First off, download the plugin called WP Mail SMTP by WP Forms, it’s free and best because I find other plugins has not updated from the last few months or years. If you don’t know how to install the plugin then check out these 4 ways to install a WordPress plugin.

After installing the plugin go “WP Mail SMTP” under settings and click on that.

WordPress Dashboard Overview for Beginners

After setting up the WordPress development environment, themes, and plugins. Now, it comes to the basic WordPress dashboard overview. You should be familiar with all tools of WordPress dashboard before actually starting development.

Well, it’s not complicated expect few sections (where you have to code some things), anyone can learn, who even don’t know how to code.

Related: How to install WordPress on Cpanel and AWS Amazon host

Before beginning, let me tell you I divided this whole WordPress Dashboard Overview into two parts. They are as follow:

Here’s an picture of WordPress dashboard, when you just installed WordPress in your Cpanel or hosting.

wordpress dashboard

So, without further a due let’s begin…

Basic WordPress Dashboard Overview

First off, we are going to start with the simple one. In this whole section you don’t need to code anything.

Now, let’s discuss the all sections one by one.

basic wordpress dashboard 1

The first one is “Dashboard” itself, under dashboard there are two options called “Home” and “Updates”. In home section, obviously you’re on the homepage of your WordPress dashboard as you can see, when you logged in your account.

In updates, you will find all updates notification (when update available).

basic wordpress dashboard 2

The second one is “Post”, the post has 4 sub menus called as “All Post” where you can see your all post or articles and you can edit them as well.

“Add New” is simply for adding a new post or article. If you don’t know how to create posts or articles than checkout this guide.

“Category” is the section where your all category located. It is usable when you post new article and you defined that article under a certain category. You can check and edit your all categories here.

“Tags” means when you post new article and give it a tag. Like if I post 5 articles on WordPress and I gave all of them a tag called WordPress. So, all my WordPress articles will display under “WordPress tag”. This can also applies to categories. And frankly, speaking tags and categories are same and work almost similar.

basic wordpress dashboard media

Next is “Media”, where you can manage your all images, videos, music, files (you uploaded).

basic wordpress dashboard pages

“Pages”, under pages section you can manage your all website pages. If you don’t how to create page in WordPress then checkout this guide.

basic wordpress dashboard comments

The next one is “Comments”, where you see and mange your all comments. Like when someone comment on your post or page they will show up here.

basic wordpress dashboard appearance

“Appearance”, under appearance you have 6 sub menus. The first one is “Themes”, where you can manage your all WordPress themes like installing a theme, activating, and deleting. If you don’t know how install WordPress theme than checkout these 4 ways to install a WordPress theme.

basic wordpress dashboard appearance customize

“Customize”, is basically a theme function where you can add your website logo, header images, site fevicon, and etc with live preview. Additional CSS, is the part of our Advanced WordPress, we will discuss this later in a few moments. One more thing you can manage your all “Widgets” from customization menu with live preview.

basic wordpress dashboard appearance widgets

“Widgets” where you can manage your website’s sidebar and its options. Well, this option is also available in the “Customize” menu where you can manage this with live preview. And here you can manage them without live previewing. Choose whichever suits you.

Next is “Menu” where you can create menus show them, wherever you want like in header navigation bar, footer or even in the sidebar.

“Header”, this option might not available to all because it actually depends on the theme you installed. So, we can leave this for now but if you have than give it a try.

“Editor”, we will discuss this in advanced section

basic wordpress dashboard plugins

“Plugin”, under plugins you have 3 sub menus, “Installed Plugins” where you can manage your all installed plugins. “Add New”, simply for adding a new plugin. “Editor”, we will discuss this in advanced section.

basic wordpress dashboard users

“Users”, where you can manage your website’s all users. You can add users for specific role like moderator, admin, subscriber, and etc. “Add New” for simply adding a new user. “Your Profile” where you can mange your own account like description, name, username, email, profile picture and so on.

Advanced WordPress Dashboard

basic wordpress dashboard tools

“Tools”, well I can include this section in basic but I think it is little more than basic so, I decided to include tools in Advanced WordPress section.

Before starting let me tell you one thing, I installed the latest WordPress version that is Version 4.9.6 and that’s why I can see 6 sub menus, but if you have lower than 4.6.9 then you’ll only see top 3 sub menus that are Available tools, Import, and Export. Checkout this post by WordPress on version 4.6.9.

Please, ignore the Reset WP option because it is added by a plugin I installed.

These all 5 options are for importing and exporting of you WordPress website. Like if you have you website on any other platform and you want switch into WordPress then you can use import tool. Because no one want to write all of his content twice. So, you can use these tools. These tools are provided under the core WordPress installation so, they are not going to change if you installed any plugin or theme.

wordpress dashboard settings

The last one is “Settings”, the privacy option is only included in the version 4.6.9 if you have lower than this will not visible to you. Other than this settings have 6 options, General, Writing, Reading, Discussion, Media, and Permalinks.

General, where you set date and time of your website according to your region, your website name, tagline, email address, and so on. Just give it a try.

Writing, where you set default category and format for all WordPress articles, a section called Post via email frankly speaking no one use this option (I think). Let me explain you what it does, it will post an article on your WordPress website by email without even opening the WordPress dashboard.

You can set mail server, email, and password. So, whenever, you send an email to your WordPress website using the same email you mentioned here. Your WordPress website automatically post that email on your website in the form of article.

I tried this option once in my whole life but its terrible or I think I didn’t use it right but somehow, I don’t discourage you to don’t use this option. Give it a try, might you like this.

Reading, where you set a static homepage and post page or make the your latest posts as your homepage, you can manage how many post you want to display on a single page, and even you can manage how you want  to display on that page like you want to show whole content or just the summary of the posts. One more thing Search Engine Visibility always unchecked this option because if you mark this option search engines leave your website and you are not going to index in the search engines.

If you’re developing your website than you can mark this option because no one want to index for half or not fully designed website. So, whenever you fully developed your website than unchecked this option.

Discussion, it’s better to check by yourself it’s not too much complicated but its very lengthy for me to explain each and every option here. You can comment if you have any issue or you didn’t understand anything.

Media, where you can set default size for all of your WordPress website images.

Permalinks, where you can set URL parameters like this article has blackmario.com/wordpress-dashboard-overview/, you can select whichever you like but its important to choose clean and readable URLs.

wordpress dashboard editor

Now, the “Editor” option of the Themes and Plugins. The theme editor option contain the all core file like your whole website code including css, javascript, php, and html.

And plugin editor contain the all plugins files. If you don’t know how to code than don’t even think to touch this section. Because if you did something wrong than it will break your whole website.

On the other side, we can use extra plugins for editor section that allow us to add custom file in our website. We’ll discuss this a bit later may be in our next to next article.

And the Additional CSS is for adding your own custom css, like if you want to change text color, size, background color, or anything related to design, you can do it here. Without even touching the core editor files.

I hope you like this article and if you want more like this than follow us on Facebook and Twitter for future notifications. And if you have any question or suggestion then feel free to ask in comments.

How to Start a Blog and Make Money Online in 2018

This question is quite popular from the past few years especially, beginners who want to know about how they can start their blog? Well, don’t worry in this article I am going to give an ultimate guide on “how to start a blog in 2018”. And after that you will never ask again to anyone and even from me. Because this post will clear your all doubts and question.

First off, we are going to cover all those topics which you’re thinking right now, from buying an hosting account to how to make money from that blog? So, let’s get into it…

Table of content

1.) How to start a blog – Step 1: “Niche”

Well, first thing when you’re starting a blog is you’ve to decide what it is for? I mean you have to decide your topic, your audience, and which people are going to read your blog.

Yes, it is the important part of a blog website. You should have to choose a niche in which you are good at, so, you can write unlimited content like if you’re a fashion designer or something like that than you should start a blog for same.

Let me give you some ideas to configuring out from niche situation. Like you’re a Python developer and you have a lot knowledge, so, you can start a blog for the same, you write articles on problem you faced while developing because most of other people also faced them too and you have the solution and write it in a blog post and people gonna read that!

That’s how it actually works..

2.) Right name for your blog website

Some people says you should include the main keyword in your domain name and I am agreed with them it is somehow beneficial it does not hurt you. But if you have a different name which has not include your main keyword than don’t worry about that. It’s not gonna affect your blog. You can name your blog whatever you want.

If you don’t believe than look at my domain it’s called BlackMario.com should I  include any type of keyword? I mean my whole website related to web development and SEO, have you seen any keyword? Not, because it doesn’t matter. If you have good content than it will definitely rank. And one more thing this theory only applies who want to build their BRANDS. Google never include “search engine or anything related terms” in their domian. Just think about it!

But your domain should be short, simple, and pronounceable to anyone. Like if you’re starting a blog on pasta than it should be like “pastalover”, “yourname+pasta”, “yourname+cook”or anything whichever is short and simple.

pro tip: Try to keep it in 16 characters.

If you don’t know where to buy domain name than go to any domain provider whichever you like but I use Godaddy. And if you don’t know how to buy domain than there are tons of videos and articles available. So, go to Google Search and learn how to buy domain.

3.) How to start a blog – step 2: “Right host”

Picking a wrong hosting will eat your whole website, Yes, when I started I choose the cheapest hosting (because the lack of knowledge) after a successful failure, I realize being web developer doesn’t mean everything will be OKAY! You should choose right everywhere.

Let me give some example to configuring out how to choose right hosting platform?

If are new to web, I mean you don’t know about coding or anything choose free platforms like freewebhosting to try yourself because we always take test exams before real exams. Checkout this if you want free web hosting if not than continue read this.

If you just want to start a blog and nothing else than their are many options available in the market you can go any of them.

The first and most popular is “shared hosting”. Shared hosting means actually a server (named as IP address) which is provided by web hosts. This is the most cheapest and suitable platform for beginners or who have less traffic.

Actually, shared hosting is a hosting type where number of people host their website by sharing the hosting server. In layman terms, a server is like a computer which store data and it is shared by number of people, where number of people (unlimited) host their websites.

There are also hosting type available like Virtual Private Network (VPN) hosting, Dedicated hosting, and of course my favorite cloud hosting.

Literally, if I am not wrong you’re a bit confused. So, I am not going to tell you the meaning of everything just read the following things and pick the right one.

  • If you have a small website, less traffic up to 4,000 in real time (I mean number of users who visit your website at single time) than go for shared hosting.
  • If have more traffic than above than go with VPN, Dedicated or cloud hosting
  • One thing I want to tell, cloud is not like other hosting so, choose cloud only when you know how to setup things like SSH, terminal, commands, and etc otherwise go for others.

And choose from the best (I preferred)like

4.) How to start a blog step 4: “Right platform”

Almost 80% of blogs are hosted on WordPress if (I am not wrong). Platform is different than hosting, hosting is where you host your website and platform means by which technique or software you are going to use for publishing.

Don’t worry I’ll tell you everything about it.. 😉

There are many platforms available in the market like WordPress, Gost, Tumblr, Blogger, and so on. So, what we choose? My  answer is WordPress because you can do anything with it. If you want to start selling than you can, if you want to provide services than you can, I mean everything. Even I hosted my website on WordPress where I also sell my services like SEO (or I can say Online Marketing), Website development, and website maintenance & management.

A part from that WordPress has also two versions. The first one is WordPress.com and second one is WordPress.org.

The WordPress.com has free and paid versions. In this case you don’t need to buy hosting as well as domain they will provide, you just have to choose the plan and start blogging. But it limit your potential income and you don’t have the flexibility to do things except the “business plan” which will cost you too much.

And WordPress.org is free but you have to purchase the hosting first as we discussed in our previous step, than you can install it for free. I also use this it doesn’t limit your earnings, you can integrate any ads from the advertisement network like Google Adsense, Media.net or anything you want. Moreover, you can install any third party theme and plugin.

So, go for WordPress.org

5.) How to start a blog: Setup  your blog

  • Last step click on install

Wait 10 to 20 seconds you’ll be notified when it done! Now, you can login into your WordPress dashboard by going to this URL: http://your-domain.com/wp-admin/. Enter your username and password and click login.

CONGRATULATIONS you successfully completed the step 1.

How to start a blog –  Step 2:

Choose your theme in the under “appearance > themes”, you have any third party theme or you want to purchase here’s a best themes for you, checkout this post it has four theme select whichever you want.

After selecting the theme go to appearance > theme > add new (on the top left side) > click “upload (on above)” > choose your downloaded theme and click upload.

How to start a blog – Step 3:

Now, you’ve your theme and we are going to setup our blog’s basics.

  • Now, go to settings > General change the settings according to you like name of your website, tagline, email address, Time, and date.
  • 2nd go to settings > reading change the settings if you want otherwise default are nice.
  • Now, go to settings > permalink change it “Post name”
  • Last step go to settings > Discussion at the bottom choose your “Default Avatar” whatever you like.

Hence, all installation and all basic setup is completed. Now, you can write articles like me publish it to the world. 🙂

6.) We step our blog now how to make money from that blog?

There are a lot of methods available to earn money from a blog like ads, selling, affiliate marketing, and so on. I am going to introduce you briefly with all of them.

a.) Advertsiment

You can advertise on your blog and make money from it. For ads you can use direct advertisements like make a contract with someone but in the beginning with a small blog website no one want to advertise because direct advertisements only work if have a lot traffic but we have solution for that.

You can use advertisement networks like Google adsence and media.net whcih are most popular. Google adsence is first choice of every blogger because of its high CPC (click per cost) rate but they only approve your account when you’ve great quality or content and your blog should be 6 months old at least. If you need approved adsence account than this guy can help you.

So, now what we do?

There is another alternative available to google adsence that is media.net which has equal level of CPM rate. This is the best advertisement network in the world after Google adsence. Just go and sign up them

b.) Affiliate marketing

Affiliate marketing is when you sell someone’s products or services on your blog. When someone purchase from your given link, you’ll get the commission. There many affiliate programs available like Amazon, Share a sale, and so on. Choose whatever you like and which best fits in your niche.

c.) Selling

If you’re good at something, than don’t do it for free. If have something you can sell than go for it. You can sell anything but what people need, like E-books, services like I provide or Whatever you like and people need.

That’s all…
